EdReady helps high school students achieve successful entrance scores for the college they want to attend, through assessment and personalized learning

Your own personalized learning path to the college you want

EdReady is a personalized learning solution designed to help learners assess their college readiness and receive a personalized learning path to fill in knowledge gaps. EdReady is designed and maintained by The NROC Project, a community guided, nonprofit project focused on new models of digital content development, distribution, and use. NROC is funded by The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and by NROC members across the country.

The Challenge

Transform a vision for student success into robust learning platform.

The NROC team had been working with educational leaders to make their high school content more attractive for students. Working together they realized that they could help solve the college entrance exam ‘problem’ that keeps many high school students from attending college by giving students free online resources to help them succeed.

The Solution

illustration of a map

Deliver an assessment focused LCMS that could dynamically create personalized curriculums. Make it fun, engaging, and successful for students.

The Edify team helped realize that vision by developing a next generation learning platform based upon modern concepts of assessment and personalized learning. The solution allows students to work at their own pace, strengthening only the skills that need improvement.

The architecture was created to support a large number of students and universities that would use the system in the near future.

One feature requested on the requirements phase was to figure out the proximity of schools from a particular student provided zip code.

Key features

  • Personalization
The platform included a personalized dashboard configured with individualized study plans to create a unique experience for each student. This personalization extended to an individual landing page and URL (YourInstitution.EdReady.org) to provide a local context for each of EdReady’s partner institutions.
  • Resource Library
Edify created a library feature, which allowed institutions to display their resources, as well as those from NROC.
  • Administration Dashboards
Edify generated the ability for teachers, administrators, and counselors with appropriate permissions to view and download live data dashboards and reports.
  • User Guides
Edify fashioned user guides, professional development materials, implementation-support resources, and activities to support EdReady implementation.

THE IMPACT

WE CREATED AN PERSONALIZED LEARNING PLATFORM AND THE STUDENT RESULTS WERE AMAZING!

In a survey of the students that participated in the pilot study, 90.9 % liked using EdReady, and 100% said EdReady improved their understanding of the required material. A majority of students raised their scores at a rate of roughly 4 points per hour studied (on a 100 point scale), sufficient to reach the target score in most cases with less than 16 hours of study!

Ongoing process

Today, Edify continues to help NROC partner with universities and institutions to address challenges in the creation, management, and analysis of EdReady content and learning processes.

The Edify team augments institutions’ custom reporting capabilities, adapts data access for different users (e.g., students, teachers, administrators, counselors), and develops ways to help teachers curate topic-specific, media-rich learning resources to guide students toward their readiness goals.

“Edify provides the insight and expertise to collaboratively build great educational software. They have great depth of understanding of the education sector, reducing or eliminating the need to explain why there are certain functional requirements that often must be met in certain ways.”

“I’m a strong advocate for EdReady because EdReady doesn’t care if the system has already determined who is or isn’t college-ready.”
